1. CII : The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) www.ciionline.org is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry led and industry managed organisation, playing a proactive role in India’s development process. With 47 offices in India, 12 overseas in Australia, Austria, China, France, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, UK, USA and institutional partnerships with 239 counterpart organisations in 101 countries, CII serves as a reference point for Indian industry and the international business community. Founded over 110 years ago, it is India’s premier business association, with a direct membership of over 5300 companies from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs and indirect membership of over 80,000 companies from around 300 national and regional sectoral associations.

A facilitator, CII catalyses change by working closely with government on policy issues, enhancing efficiency, competitiveness and expanding business opportunities for industry through a range of specialised services and global linkages. It also provides a platform for sectoral consensus building and networking. Major emphasis is laid on projecting a positive image of business, assisting industry identify and execute corporate citizenship programmes.

2. ASSOCHAM: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), http://www.assocham.org India's premier apex chamber covers a membership of over 100,000 companies and professionals across the country. It was established in 1920 by six chambers, representing all regions of India. As an apex industry body, ASSOCHAM represents the interests of industry and trade, interfaces with Government on policy issues and interacts with counterpart international organizations to promote bilateral economic issues. ASSOCHAM is represented on all national and local bodies and is, thus, able to pro-actively convey industry viewpoints, as also communicate and debate issues relating to public-private partnerships for economic development.
